Department of Aviation Standard Policy:  Public Exhibit Areas

PURPOSE:  To define criteria and guidelines for materials acceptable for viewing in exhibitions at Denver International Airport (DIA).

1.  The DIA Art Exhibition Program entertains and informs passengers and airport visitors by providing a diversion from what can be a stressful time. The exhibits are engaging, aesthetically pleasing and enlightening to visitors, thereby enhancing their experience at DIA.

2.  The content of the exhibits is wide and varied and adheres to the highest artistic standards. The shows feature artists from the Western region, folk art and crafts, historical, ethnographic and environmental materials, and selections from museums and collections. Only the highest quality authentic pieces, suited to the theme of the exhibit, are selected for display.

3.  The subject matter of the exhibitions must be appropriate for viewing in an airport venue. In keeping with the Airport’s mission statement, DIA does not accept for display political statements, nudity, lewd or pornographic depictions, violent or menacing images, weapons, ethnic slurs or any controversial materials that could make airline passengers apprehensive about flying.

4.  Objects on loan to the City and County of Denver for the art exhibition program at the Airport shall remain in the City’s possession for the time specified on the loan receipt signed by the lender. The City and County of Denver reserves the right to withdraw or relocate loaned objects at any time.
